Honestly, I have no idea. I was in my backyard feeding them around 8 pm. They were both in the back yard. I went to let them in the house at around 10 and when I opened the door they didn't come running in as usual. I went to look for them and noticed that BOTH our side gates were open. The gates are too tall for my dogs to accidentally knock the lock off. So someone must have opened the gate while I was getting dinner. I returned home and they were missing.
